Idea of the tournament
There were five of us and we had a common vision: We wanted to create our own international golf tournament for lesbians and gays.
With high sporting standards, played over two days on an 18-hole championship course. Above all, however, the fun and communication within the LGBTI community should be in the foreground. For example, mixed flights, also in terms of playing level, were a natural part of the plan.
In the same year we were able to turn our vision into reality – and have been doing so every autumn ever since. Today the German Rainbow Open is a firmly established tournament in European gay and lesbian golf (LGBTI).
Right from the start, WINSTONgolf, host of the EUROPEAN SENIOR TOUR since 2012, has been a wonderfully holey home for us.
According to our philosophy we want to introduce as many still inexperienced lesbians and gays interested in golf as possible to this wonderful sport. A professional golf introduction course is therefore always part of the German Rainbow Open. And we promise: Our LGBTI Community Golf Tournament is also suitable for players with little tournament experience.

New in 2018
Event-Home
Schloss Basthorst will be the official event hotel of the German Rainbow Open from 2018. All participants who book one of the packages A, B, C, D are wonderfully accommodated here.
Shuttle-Service
On Saturday (shot gun start on both places) can NOT be shutteled to the start tees.
A shuttle service to and from other hotels on the evening of the event is unfortunately no longer possible.
Accreditation, get-together:
In contrast to previous years, the accreditation, welcome speech and the official event opening will take place in 2018 at the Waldresidenz in Schloss Basthorst on Friday.
Packages including 2 overnight stays at Schloss Basthorst:
We have negotiated special conditions as packages for our event participants. These packages (A, B, C, D) include 2 nights (28th and 29th Sept. 2018) with breakfast in Schloss Basthorst and can only be booked via the online registration for the German Rainbow Open with us (the German Rainbow Golfers e.V.).
Participants who have already reserved/booked at Schloss Basthorst for a longer period of time must also book the respective package via online registration and pay us. The overnight stays booked (and paid for packages A, B, C and D) with us will be credited to the final settlement by Schloss Basthorst.
Early bird discount
The early bird discount is only available if payment is received by 15th July 2018 and only for special packages (A, B, C, D, 2 nights including breakfast at Schloss Basthorst).
Optional practise rounds, new conditions:
Practice rounds against green fees are optionally possible, please book individually with WINSTONgolf.
ATTENTION: Unfortunately, WINSTONgolf cannot grant us the previously agreed green fee discounts for 2018 and subsequent years.
This means that our participants are entitled to a 20% discount on the usual green fee for introductory rounds before the GRO as shown on the WINSTONgolf website.

Important note on the payment system during the event days:
Food and drinks can exclusively be payed via COUPONS (30.00 EUR or 50.00 EUR per location), which are only valid at WINSTONgolf OR Schloss Basthorst.
WINSTONgolf:
Coupons (30.00 EUR or 50.00 EUR) are available from Fr., 28th to Sun., 30th Sept.2018 all day at the golf reception (until 7 pm), after 7 pm at the restaurant counter. Unused credit will be refunded by Monday, 1st Oct.2018, 3:00 p.m. at the latest at the golf reception.
Schloss Basthorst / Wald Residenz:
Coupons (30.00 EUR or 50.00 EUR) are available all day from Friday, 28th Sept. to Saturday, 29th Sept.2018 in the Waldresidenz at the reception. Unused credit will be charged when checking out of the hotel (or paid out at the reception desk at the Waldresidenz on 29.Sept.).

Accreditation: 6 p.m. bis 7.45 p.m. in the reception area of the Waldresidenz Schloss Basthorst.
Get-together in the Waldresidenz Schloss Basthorst (Restaurant Wilhelmina Helena):
In a casual setting and with food at food stations (self-payers) all participants have the opportunity to get to know competitors from home and abroad before the first tee-off. At about 8 p.m. the official welcome of all participants of the 14th German Rainbow Open and the official Event Opening of the tournament weekend will take place.

1st Tournament Day, 14th GRO | Golf Introduction Course | Aperitive and Festive Buffet at Schloss Basthorst

After the first sporting part, all participants will be invited to an aperitif in the Waldresidenz of Schloss Basthorst from around 6.15 p.m., to which the management invites us again this year.
Afterwards we find ourselves there to enjoy the festive buffet, as well as a tombola and a small award ceremony for special rankings and the introduction course participants.

2nd Tournament Day, 14. GRO | Award Ceremony at WINSTONgolf
The title decision at the 14th German Rainbow Open will be made on Sunday, 30 September 2018:
The participants start into the final round in flights of three – depending on the result of the stroke play (A+B) / net (C+D) of the previous day.
Class C/D, WINSTONlinks: 09.00 a.m. (1st flight of tea 1 and tea 10)
Class A/B, WINSTONopen: Tea 10 from 9:00 am, Tea 1 from 9:30 am
About 5:30 p.m.:
Award ceremony for places 1-3 in the individual scoring classes women and men, as well as the pink jacket award to the two tournament winners (women/men).
Afterwards the organizers say goodbye to all participants of the 14th German Rainbow Open, end of the event.
Golf Introduction Course
Getting to know golf:
We are committed to introducing those interested in golf to the LGBT community. That is why we offer a golf introduction course with the help of WINSTONgolf.
Parallel to the first round of the tournament on Saturday, 29th Sept.2018, non-golfers will have the chance to experience the fascination of golf in a golf introduction course lasting several hours under the professional guidance of a golf instructor. Rental clubs, balls, welcome drink and guided tour included.
The process:
10.00 – noon Training
noon – 1 pm Lunch break
1 pm – 2 pm Practice
2 pm small tournament of the introduction course participants
On Sunday, 30th Sept., graduates of the introduction course can rent clubs and play on the WINSTONkranich (9-hole short course) on their own initiative for a fee. If you are interested, please contact the golf reception.

All relevant information about the scoring classes, game / start mode, caddy control, play-off… etc. are available for download in the form of the official tournament announcement.
Who plays sporty ambitious tournaments, looks always exactly into the advertisement. We explicitly welcome golfers who do not yet have so much experience in tournaments. And they ask, just like the experienced “old hands”, to download the invitation to tender provided here and to read it carefully.

Notes on Registration
The sooner the better: EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT (see packages)
Early registration is strongly recommended – the number of participants is limited for organisational reasons.
All golfers with an HCP -54 (course permit/course qualification) with a valid HCP certificate are eligible to participate (for details see announcement).
The deadline for registration is August 31, 2018, and the starting place guarantee will only be given after receipt of the entry fee on the account shown as follows.
Please complete a separate registration form for each participating person. A confirmation with all details from the registration will be sent automatically to the e-mail address given in the registration form.
When booking one of the packages A, B, C, D, you will receive a reservation confirmation from Schloss Basthorst soon.
(In addition to the registration confirmation to the GRO which we will be send automatically.)
If you wish to make changes, please let us know by e-mail – DO NOT send us a new registration!
